The Ranching on Kahoolawe

Information about ranching on the island of Kahoolawe Island in Hawaii.

By the late 1890s, there were about 900 cattle and 15,000 sheep on the island of Kahoolawe

Ranching caused significant damage on Kahoolawe's environment. By the 1870s many areas of the island experienced overgrazing.

Ranching operations ended when the military took control of the island.
