Kahalui Master Planned Development:
Hawaiian Commercial and Sugar Company (HC&S) hired Harlan Bartholowmew
in 1947 to prepare a master plan for building a community in
the sugarcane fields surrounding Kahului Harbor.
Fee simple house and lot packages were sold between 1950 and 1963
and the Kahului Shopping Center was built in 1951.
