History of the Molokai Ranch

A history of the Molokai Ranch on the island of Molokai in Hawaii including when it closed and why.

ENTITY: Molokai Ranch Development
CEASED OPERATING: 2008

The Molokai Ranch was based at 100 Maunaloa Highway until they abandoned all of their operations on Molokai Island. Their Web site at "molokairanch dot com" is no longer online.

Many of Maunaloa's residents worked for the Molokai Ranch, which was the largest employer on the island before it closed in 2008. When the ranch ceased operations it closed all of its operations and laid off more than 100 workers.

The Molokai Ranchh closed because its desire and plans to built 200 upscale residential homes on 613 acres at Laau Point on on the southwestern tip of Molokai was thwarted by local opposition.

Businesses formerly operated by Molokai Ranch:
- Cattle Ranch
